Collaboration is at the heart of everything the Young Harrow Foundation (YHF) does. Like each Young People’s Foundation, YHF brings together a cross sector of partners with the collective objective of building better futures for local young people.
The budding partnership between Harrow School and Young Harrow Foundation is a wonderful example of this and how the Charity can utilise its wealth of local knowledge acquired over almost three decades to unlock resource for the third sector.
The Young People’s Foundation (YPF) model is the response of John Lyon’s Charity to the ongoing pressures on the Children and Young People’s sector and specifically the issues faced by the voluntary sector in our Beneficial Area.
The YPF’s are based in their local communities, providing services that are led by their members and based on the needs and assets of their area. Together they share a common goal – to help create and champion a more impactful, co-ordinated and sustainable sector to ensure all young people have access to quality support and opportunities.
When the Charity established the model, it was fundamental the YPFs find a way for children and young peoples’ stakeholders from all sectors work and exist together at a local level with a tailored approach taking into consideration the local landscape.
Harrow School has the potential to be a major stakeholder in young people’s services Harrow. John Lyon’s Charity knew the crucial impact it could have working alongside the Young Harrow Foundation to bind the school with the local community and voluntary sector. Using its insight, the Charity has helped establish a trusted working relationship between both organisations with mutual objectives and has created meaningful opportunities for the school to engage directly with local young people through local third sector organisations.
