“We are very lucky to have a lead teacher who advocates for the arts. Without him I suspect many answers would be little or no impact and getting organizations on board can be challenging. Many organizations think they being inclusive, however it is only for the more able SEN pupils and not the most complex. The narrative needs to change around our complex children and the experiences we can offer them as we know they are the most disadvantaged when it comes to arts and culture.”

• Finding specialist artists / organisations that can offer experiences that are meaningful for PMLD students can be difficult and they come at a cost.
• Lasting impact of Covid in terms of travel and funding shortfalls. Loss of EU Comenius Funding and travel opportunities.
• Sadly, financial cuts across the arts.
• Our ability as a school to finance creative enrichment with budgets that are decreasing in real terms year on year.
• We lost our art teacher due to changes to the curriculum, she had lots of contacts for the arts link.
